The man who was shot and killed after allegedly attempting to enter an apartment has been identified as a 43-year-old Canyon Country man.
David Perez was pronounced dead at Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital from multiple gunshot wounds after he allegedly broke into an apartment in the 26000 block of Isabella Parkway on March 11, said Capt. John Kades with the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office.
According to Los Angeles County Homicide detectives, a man called the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station and stated that he just shot a man who broke into his apartment while he was home.
Once deputies arrived on scene, they discovered the suspect, a male Hispanic adult, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, said a press release issued by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
According to the informant and witnesses, Perez was trying to get into the informant’s apartment. The informant told Perez to leave and that he did not live there but the suspect ignored him, the release said.
When the suspect broke out a window and started to climb inside the apartment, he was shot by the resident.
The resident was detained at the Santa Clarita Sheriff’s Station and a handgun was recovered at the location.
The incident is still under investigation.

It’s sad for the guys family.
I’m not pro killing no one
But if it was me.I rather his family cry than mine.
I think it is wrong that this man is detained and had his weapon confiscated. If a strange man entered my home in the middle of the night I would shoot him too. It is self defense self preservation and protecting your family.
He was protecting his family. I would have done the same.
Why didn’t he call the police when he the intruder first starting knocking on the door, instead of after he shot him multiple times. It probably only would have taken one shot to slow him down or stop him. I still wonder if that poor guy was drunk and confused.
I hope you never have to rely on the police to arrive before a man who is standing in front of you can kill you or a family member(hint: he can easily kill you before the police arrive). Also I hope you never have to rely on the reluctance of a man who already broke through your window to do further violence. Not many drunk people break a window to gain entrance into their own domicile while someone they don’t know is telling them they have the wrong house.
Too bad the guy spoke no english, was drunk and went to the wrong house. Dude didn’t understand the home owner and continued to try and get in. Lost his life over a drunken night out.
