Readers rejoice! Santa Clarita Public Library customers can now take their video watching and magazine reading on the go. The Santa Clarita Public Library has expanded its services to include popular digital magazines and video streaming from the library’s collection.
With Flipster, and their city library card, magazine enthusiasts can conveniently access their favorite magazines anywhere, anytime. This new service allows readers to browse the latest issues of many popular magazines, including titles such as People and Newsweek, all courtesy of the library. High-quality digital versions of the magazines may even be downloaded for offline reading by downloading the free Flipster app. The app is available on most reading devices such as the iPad, Android tablet and Kindle Fire tablet.
For visitors of the library that prefer to peruse the video and DVD section, OverDrive Streaming Video will be their new favorite application. With OverDrive, free shows and movies from the library’s digital collection can be borrowed and watched right in their web browser, all without having to download files or use special software. The OverDrive app is also available for use on most reading devices including the iPhone, iPad, Nook, Android phones and tablets and the Kindle Fire.
“The Santa Clarita Public Library continually expands services and with these two new additions we continue to encourage reading,” said Mayor Marsha McLean. “The upgrade is another example of the City’s ongoing commitment to enhance library services to meet the growing needs of our community,” she added.
