Antelope Valley College recognized for receiving state accreditation for their new four-year degree in airframe manufacturing technology.
Supervisors Sheila Kuehl and Mark Ridley-Thomas recommend the revision of FY2015-16 Annual Plan to reflect the elimination of any and all provisions screening applicants out of the Housing Choice Voucher and Public Housing programs due to probation or parole status, the reduction of criminal “look back” for drug offenses, and development and revision of “serious violent” crimes, and “other criminal activity” respectively. Supervisor Sheila Kuehl recommends the transfer of $728,000 for four projects that will assist individuals and families experiencing homelessness in the Third District. (Item 2)
Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich recommends the following:
- Extentsion of the $20,000 reward for information leading to the apprehension and/or conviction of the suspect responsible for sexually assaulting a 10 year old girl at a Denny’s in Palmdale. (Item 6)
- Proclamation of April 13-17, 2015 as the National Crime Victims’ Rights Week throughout Los Angeles County in recognition of the District Attorney’s Victim-Witness Assistance Program. (Item 7)
- Proclamation of April 13-17, 2015 as the National Public Safety Telecommunications Week in honor of the highly trained professionals that keep communities safe and healthy. (Item 8)
Supervisors Hilda Solis and Don Knabe request a report back in 90 days on the feasibility of developing a secure facility that would serve Commercially Sexually Exploited Children under the jurisdiction of the Probation and Children and Family Services Departments. (Item 14)
Action would approve the 2013 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program budget in the amount of $961,828 to continue crime prevention and control programs in the County. (Item 18)
Action would accept $15.7 million in 2014 Urban Area Security Initiative Grant funds from the Department of Homeland Security to address needs associated to respond to incidents of terrorism and natural disasters. (Item 19)
$11.4 million proposal would extend agreements with six contractors for the continued provision of Overflow Medical Records Coding and Abstracting Services for the Department of Health Services. (Item 24)
$105,850 proposal would fund the construction of a vitrified clay sanitary sewer pipe in the unincorporated community of Altadena. (Item 29)
Approval sought for up to $455,000 for the rehabilitation of sanitary sewer systems for the Sewer Rehabilitation Project in the Cities of Carson and Rancho Palos Verdes. (Item 34)
Approval sought for up to $145,000 for the Catch Basin Cleanout 2015, Dominguez Channel Watershed, et al. Project in various cities and unincorporated communities within the Dominguez Channel Watershed. (Item 36)
Approval sought for up to $130,000 for the Catch Basin Cleanout 2015, Ballona Creek Watershed Project in various cities and unincorporated communities within the Ballona Creek Watershed. (Item 37)
Action would accept $2.8 million grant from the California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services for the Fiscal Year 2014 Homeland Security Grant Program. (Item 41)
$5.3 million settlement proposed for a wrongful death lawsuit alleging excessive force arising from a shooting by Sheriff Deputies. (Item 43)
