Emergency personnel are reporting knockdown of a brush fire that broke out Thursday afternoon at the Paradise Ranch mobile home park north of Castaic.
Knockdown was declared at about 2:52 p.m. Not all of the flames were “out” at that time, but they were fully contained.
The fire consumed approximately 2.5 acres on the east side of Interstate 5.
The fire was first reported at 2:25 p.m. Flames were spreading in a northwesterly direction in 5 mph winds. The fuel consisted of medium brush and light grass.
Various road closures were in effect in the area. Northbound Interstate 5 was closed temporarily so firefighters could gain access to the area.
A Sigalert was issued at 3:39 p.m.; the two right lanes of the freeway were expected to be closed for an additional 45 minutes.
