Santa Clarita = tsunamis? I understand. It’s the news but why not say that it’s at best, 1 foot?

Tracy here: Lord Jesus, we ask for you hand of protection of this beautiful state. And, GOD please work in the only way you can to bring hope and healing to those in Chile.
I’m probably one of the best to answer this question and who has been a resident of SCV for 21 years. I’m the Emergency Manager for the Port of Los Angeles and Tsunami’s are one of my major concerns. To make a long story short, the First Responder community gets our notification of any type of Tsunami Warning from the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center. http://ptwc.weather.gov/ They are best able to determine severity of impact of waves, water run-up, tidal surges, etc. One because of advance computer modeling but also because of Deep Ocean Assessment and Reporting of Tsunami Buoys (DART) http://nctr.pmel.noaa.gov/Dart/. We make a determination base on their assessment on issues such as to completing a full evacuation of the area or simply shutting down the beach. In any case. Santa Clarita….you are safe. But as a precautionary measure whenever you hear of any Tsunami alert, stay away from the beach. Don’t become another Dustin Weber, who unfortunately was a victim of the Japan Tsunami. He didn’t die in Japan….he died while trying to take pictures in California. 12 hours of notice to get away from the coast line. Instead he went to the coastline. And forever I get to use his name as an example of don’t be another Dustin Weber. http://www.cnn.com/2011/US/04/12/oregon.tsunami.victim/index.html
Lord protect us!
Updates yet?
Lets go catch some waves bruh
Highly doubt this will affect us.
Highly doubt this will affect us. Praying for Chile!
Andrea Rebecca thought you and Jon should know.
Whoa, thanks for the warning Ckay Walker
One foot waves? We need a warning for that? The surfers won’t even get out of bed…
I am more concerned about undertow and shifts in currents.
Absolutely, but only if you go swimming in the ocean. I’ve seen so many terrified reactions to this warning though, as if we were about to be swept away.
Lol. I just want my kids to know because they take their dog and play in the water. The dog could easily fall into a bad situation with the tides.
True, that…
We have been concerned about family in Chile, but it appears they are shaken up, but OK. They are much more at risk of a tsunami right now, but I think they, too, are far enough inland. I saw video of the Japanese tsunami when it hit the Pacific coast, and it was just a tidal surge that tossed boats around a little. If they’re tied loosely, they should be OK.
Bailee England what youve always been afraid of ?????????
I KNEW IT
“One foot waves”
Shut up lol
