Teens in grades 7-12 are invited to make their voice heard and help shape teen library services and programs provided by the Santa Clarita Public Library by joining a local Teen Advisory Board group. To join, an application form must be completed and submitted at the library branch of their choice. Kick-off meetings are scheduled to begin this September.
Previously only available at the Valencia Library, this program is now being offered at all Santa Clarita Public Library branches including the Old Town Newhall and Canyon Country Jo Anne Darcy library branches.
The Teen Advisory Board program is a great opportunity for teen patrons to get involved with their community and local library branches. Members work closely with librarians to develop group goals such as providing input on Young Adult library collections, contributing to the Library teen web page, and assisting with the planning of teen services and programs.
Members acquire great leadership skills and earn volunteer service hours for their participation. The program is also a neat and safe way for Santa Clarita teens to interact with other teens in their area.
Teen Advisory Board meetings are held monthly during the school year, September through May, at each local library branch.
