The City of Santa Clarita is accepting names of youth who lost their lives in traffic-related incidents, ages 24 and younger, for the 8th Annual Evening of Remembrance at the Youth Grove hosted on Saturday, Sept. 28.

To submit a name to be displayed at the Youth Grove, parents must complete and submit a signed release form by Friday, July 26, to the Community Services Division, located at 20880 Centre Pointe Parkway.

“The Youth Grove is a way for the community to honor and remember the young men and women who were taken from us too soon because of traffic related collisions,” said Mayor Bob Kellar.  “The names commemorated in the Youth Grove serve as a reminder of the importance of driving safely and cautiously because tragedy can happen to anyone.”

All names submitted for the Youth Grove will be presented at the 8th Annual Evening of Remembrance on pillars that mimic cut tree stumps, which represents a young life cut short on the road.  The pillars surround a central monument urging the community to “Know More” about safe driving habits and to pledge that “No More” young lives will be lost behind the wheel.

The half-acre memorial is dedicated to educating the community about safe driving and offering a place for reflection. The Youth Grove is home to 84 individual pillars, each bearing the name of a youth lost in a traffic-related incident on a plaque.

The Youth Grove at Central Park is located at 27150 Bouquet Canyon Road.
