The City of Santa Clarita received top honors from the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority and the Ventura County Transportation Commission for its outstanding marketing achievement in ridesharing programs.
“Every year, City staff and community members participate in Employee Rideshare Week and Bike to Work Day as a fun and alternative way to get to work,” commented Mayor Frank Ferry. “The City is honored to have its environmentally conscious programs, which promote healthy lifestyles, rewarded by some of the region’s largest transportation agencies.”
Honored for the City’s Employee Rideshare Week and Bike to Work Day, the Diamond Awards recognizes businesses and public organizations for achievements in developing innovative and successful programs that encourage employees to carpool or bike to work.
The City’s Employee Rideshare Week and Bike to Work Day events both experienced increased participation thanks to additional community outreach, local partnerships, and enhanced marketing efforts. Business involvement for Santa Clarita’s Bike to Work Day more than doubled this year with over 20 businesses and 200 riders participating in the annual event. At the 9th annual Employee Rideshare program, more than 100 City employees participated in the 80’s themed honoring Metro’s Rideshare Week.
