Businesses that regularly enjoy doing business with the City of Santa Clarita will soon have one more thing to like – an automated, paperless, web-based system that will allow easy access and response to bids, quotes and proposals.
The City’s new “BidsOnline” will provide Santa Clarita with cutting edge technology that will streamline the purchasing process for both businesses and the City. The new system will allow businesses to maintain their own profile, receive automatic email notifications for selected bid opportunities based on products and service categories, searches for all types of requests, addenda, plan holders, bid results and contract awards, request and download bid documents, receive automatic addendum notification as a bid participant and submit electronic bidding in many cases, allowing bid responses to be securely submitted online.
The City’s new system will come online this month and right now, the City is requesting that all vendors begin registering their business at http://www.planetbids.com/portal/portal.cfm?CompanyID=16840#.
“The City will be advertising all of its bid and proposal solicitations online, in addition to those required to be printed in the local newspaper. The new system, which was requested by some of our vendors, will make the entire process smoother and will use a lot less paper,” commented Joe Oerum, the City’s Purchasing Agent.
