The Santa Clarita community responded quickly to come to the aid of those affected by the shootings at Saugus High School Thursday morning.
Classes and several events have also been canceled or rescheduled.
We’ll update this list as more information becomes available.
Vigil: A vigil is set for Central Park in Saugus on Sunday from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Grief counseling for those affected by the shooting will be available from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Santa Clarita Activity Center Thursday night.
Hart District Schools: All Friday classes are canceled, per District officials.
Saugus Union School District: Schools will be open Friday.
College of the Canyons: Information Night for high school seniors at Canyons High is canceled. COC officials did not know as of Thursday afternoon if it will be rescheduled.
Light up Main Street: The city of Santa Clarita’s holiday tree-lighting event in Old Town Newhall set for Saturday night, Nov. 16 has been postponed to Saturday, Nov. 23 starting at 6 p.m.
St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church: Candlelight vigil, Thursday at 6 p.m.
Bouquet Canyon Church: Prayer event, Thursday at 5:30 p.m.
Grace Baptist Church: Prayer Night, Thursday at 6 p.m.
Valencia United Methodist Church: Prayer Service, Thursday at 7 p.m.
Child & Family Center: For anyone affected by the tragic events, we are offering free and open groups at 4 p.m., 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. Thursday evening for anyone in the Santa Clarita area.
Additional groups will be provided on the following dates:
Friday – 11 p.m., 3 p.m. 4 p.m. and 5 p.m.
Monday – 4 p.m., 5 p.m., 6 p.m.
Thursday’s and Monday’s 6 p.m. group and Friday’s 11 a.m. group will have a Spanish facilitator available.
