Los Angeles County Department of Public Health is directing the Southern California Gas Company to implement their Interior Home Cleaning Work Plan and to begin the cleaning Wednesday, May 25.

To continue to protect the residents’ health, Public Health will be in the field monitoring the cleaning done by SoCalGas and their contractors.

Relocated residents who want cleaning must request cleaning by the following deadlines, or residents will be deemed to have declined cleaning: Residents who are in hotels have until today, May 25 at 5:00 p.m. to request cleaning; Residents, who are in housing other than hotels, will have until May 27 at 5:00 p.m. to request cleaning.

Relocated residents should continue scheduling their appointments for cleaning according to the Court’s ruling by contacting SoCalGas at:

Homes of residents who are not currently relocated are not addressed in the Court’s decision but are covered by the Public Health Directive. Public Health is committed to ensuring that SoCalGas complies with the directive and cleans all homes in the impacted community regardless of relocation status.

On Sunday, May 22, Public Health issued a Stop-Work Order to SoCalGas to protect residents’ health after Public Health Environmental Health Specialists observed remedial cleaning and concluded that it did not comply with the Public Health cleaning protocol.

Public Health, its partner agencies and scientific experts will continue to monitor environmental conditions and health surveillance data, and will continue to intervene as may be necessary to protect health in the communities affected by the Aliso Canyon Storage Facility.
