Kenneth R. Lord
Kenneth R. Lord, associate dean of the Kania School of Management at The University of Scranton in Pennsylvania, has been named the new dean of California State University, Northridge’s College of Business and Economics.
Lord, who has more than 25 years of experience in higher education and is an expert in the field of marketing, will assume his new position at CSUN on Aug. 1.
“Dr. Lord brings with him an impressive breadth experience,” said Harry Hellenbrand, provost and vice president for academic affairs. “We look forward to him continuing the success of the college.”
Lord said he was looking forward to joining the CSUN community.
“I have been deeply impressed with the people at CSUN and the quality and innovation of its programs as well as the many services it provides its students,” Lord said. “I am honored to be stepping into a key position of a school that has been so well led, and I look forward to working with the outstanding faculty, staff and administration to reach new heights.”
Lord already has plans to meet with CSUN alumni in the New York area before he even officially starts his new job and said he is looking forward to meeting with alumni and business and community leaders when he gets to Southern California.
“It’s truly one of the exciting dimensions of the job,” he said. “I look forward to being engaged as I come on board.”
Lord has served as associate dean of the Kania School since 2006. He is also a professor in its Department of Management and Marketing. From 1998 to 2006, while at Mercer University in Atlanta, Ga., he served as director of graduate programs, as marketing discipline coordinator and as a professor of marketing. He was a member of the marketing faculty at State University of New York at Buffalo from 1986 to 1995 and at Niagara University from 1995 to 1998.
His research in the area of consumer behavior has led to more than 75 journal articles and conference presentations, more than a thousand citations in scholarly publications and textbooks, his ranking among the world’s top advertising scholars in a Journal of Advertising article in 2008 and a book published last year on the topic of social justice.
He earned his bachelor’s degree in English and his master’s degree in communication from the University of Utah and his doctorate in marketing from The Ohio State University.
CSUN’s College of Business and Economics is dedicated to educating the leaders of tomorrow by offering a challenging curriculum, smaller class size, state-of-the-art facilities and nationally recognized programs. The college has been recognized by The Princeton Review and U.S. News & World Report as one of the best business schools in the country.
