1964 - United Air Lines Convair 340 forced down in Saugus when both engines fail; 47 aboard, none injured [story]
emergency landing

By Jessica Boyer and Perry Smith, Hometownstation.com

[KHTS] – Sheriff’s Department officials are investigating Twitter accounts posting naked pictures reportedly of Santa Clarita Valley high school boys and girls.

Known as SCV_Purge, the account posted nearly two dozen photos Wednesday night, with posts including pictures with captions identifying Santa Clarita Valley high school students.

The case is being investigated by the Special Victims Bureau of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, said Sgt. Brian Hudson.

“We’ve been working with Twitter to identify any inappropriate pages and to have them removed,” Hudson said. “We’re actively investigating the case.”

No suspects have been arrested at this time, he said.

One of the initial accounts, SCV Purge, was put together Wednesday, and then taken down after Twitter was notified of the content. Another Twitter handle “@SCVpurge1,” was quickly put up in its place and Twitter took away the accounts posting rights.

The final Twitter handle @Scv_Purge1 was set up around 2 p.m. Wednesday.

The Twitter handle posted dozens of nude photographs along with captions that claimed to identify Santa Clarita high school students.  The anonymous poster also published tweets including explicit actions that the named teens had allegedly done.

The posting continued to escalte until 9:21 p.m. when the owner of the account tweeted “Stay tuned till 12am tonight for what you all have been waiting for…. THE BIG PURGE.” and minutes later began threatening to reveal the people who had shared the explicit content with the Twttier account.

Around 10:11 p.m. the Twitter account @Scv_Purge1 went from private to public and posted all of the Twitter handles of people who “exposed” the teens.  The account also published several more nude photographs and explicit actions allegidly done by the named teens.

The account was shut down by Twitter between 10:50 p.m. and 11:30 p.m.

“I heard about it (Wednesday) actually by friends,” said a Saugus High School student who asked to remain anonymous. “They told me about it and they told me that it’s kind of discriminating to teenage girls and embarrassing that thy were trusting people with pictures. It’s not OK to post those pictures but it’s not OK to take those pictures and it’s not OK to send them to people. Even if you trust them, you never know.”

The title “SCV Purge” was apparently inspired by a 2013 movie called “The Purge,” in which “A wealthy family is held hostage for harboring the target of a murderous syndicate during the Purge, a 12-hour period in which any and all crime is legalized,” according to IMDB.

Santa Clarita Valley Teens Allegedly Post Nude Pictures On TwittAfter being up for about five hours Wednesday night, the second page, @SCVPurge1 had more than 1,300 followers and about 21 photos.  The page reached more than 2,400 followers over the course of the day.

One of the postings said: “Everyone remember! We are not the bad ones its thosewho are (sending us direct messages) and sending in your nudes that are bad So think twice of who u (sic) trust.”

Sheriff’s Department officials had much of the activity suspended or removed as of this morning.

No other information is being released by officials at this time.

The SCV Youth Project posted a message on its website last night seeking to warn parents and teens about the illegal activity.

The following message was sent out to the Santa Clarita Valley from HelpNotHassle.org, a group that provides counseling and other services for Santa Clarita Valley teens and families:

“Teenagers that do not fully comprehend the legal ramifications of sending sexually explicit text messages are finding themselves labeled as convicted sex offenders for the rest of their lives. “

We got wind tonight, of a new twitter account:  SCV_purge1 – that is collecting nude pictures of teens and posting them for all of their followers.  These pictures may be sent directly to the owner of the account or in some cases, ex boyfriends/girlfriends are forwarding as a form of retaliation or revenge.  Regardless of the motive, it’s happening right now … as we speak.  They are up to over 2,000 followers, and they just opened the account today.

The owner of the account is threatening to provide a full list of names of all of the teens being victimized on this twitter feed.  The account is protected, so access is limited.  We have alerted LAPD and Twitter.  We are trying to shut it down but another will pop up, if we don’t do more on our end to educate our kids and our community.

We cannot stress enough how dangerous the internet and social media can be … and how risky it is to engage in any type of “sexting” – not to mention, it is against the law.

We can’t be afraid to have a conversation with our kids about protecting their bodies … having self respect ….the risks of sexting … making good choices … over sharing … and advocating for online safety.

  1. This is awful and shocking! Someone is going to be in deep when they find out who it is. I hope teens will get a clue and stop sharing these kinds of photos with others!

  2. Kids need to realize once a photo is shared it’s out there forever. I blame the parents for not installing better morals in their kids and for not educating them on what could happen if you share intimate photos. But still, no one deserves to be humiliated this way or anyway ever.

    • I agree 100%. It boggles my mind when I hear people saying they deserve it for taking them & sharing it in the 1st place. Parents need to be aware of what kids are doing and TALK TO THEM!!!

    • Why do we have to point blame at anyone? Teenage boys and girls have liked eachother since….forever. It happens. Even a pastors daughter will send a racy picture every once in a while. Live and learn to just deal with the repercussions. Good communication between child and adult doesn’t cure sex drive or social pressures. The kids know the risks, they’re more tech adept than most adults, they do it anyways. It’s a dick move to post them I agree, and hopefully they get theirs in the end.

    • Yes, anyone can make the bad decision to take an intimate photo (hell even adults do it) but parents should make the effort to speak to their kids. It won’t cure sex drive or social pressures but at least kids would have info when making the decision to snap that pic. Although it won’t stop it all together it sure would help.
As someone who was a teenager not too long ago, I know the open dialog with my parents helped me in making my choices while dealing with peer pressure.
Ultimately kids will be kids and they’ll do stupid things… God knows I made my fair share of mistakes and have learned from them, but in this day of social media and google images kids need to be more careful than any of us had to in the past.

Ok, 1st of all you CAN NOT BLAME THE PARENTS!!!! I am a parent who educated my oldest daughter on this exact thing from the moment she got a phone in the 6th grade. We openly talked about the cause & effects of drinking, drugs, sexting & taking nude photos of yourself & sending it to someone. Not just one time, but over & over & over again. I constantly checked her phone & MySpace (that was thing thing back then) She had to give my her password to everything or she was not allowed to have it. I pretty much stocked her stuff on a daily basis. In 9th grade she had a crush on a boy & he asked her to send a pic. So what did she do after years of talking about what can happen, morals, self value, she sent him a pic. Covered her face but you saw everything else. How do I know, because as I already stated, I looked at her stuff EVERYDAY & she neglected to delete the photo. I was outraged!!! I made her call the boy & tell him if it wasn’t deleted I was calling the police. Guess what he sent it to all his friends before I had a chance to talk to his parents. How do I know this, because 2 years later she was a victim of this same exact thing. Now I prepared myself for the drinking & the drugs in my head. Kids will be kids no matter how GOOD of a parent you are. The ONE thing I thought for sure my daughter would not do was the thing she did. Send a nude picture. After ALL our talks she still did it. You see I am a GOOD PARENT, but my daughter still did it. She made a bad choice & it bit her in the ass!!! So please get off you high horse, when you obviously do not have a clue as to what you are talking about!!! And for those if you who don’t think your child will do something, you’re wrong. They will. No matter how good of a parent you are.

I read the posts of parents who swear that they have spoken to their kids about all this. Maybe, just maybe the kids know and understand social media and the repercussions and they just…don’t…care. If you really have your eyes wide open, you see that our entire society and culture has changed drastically. The bigger question is “why do they (teens)feel that this is OK to do and why do it? Attention? Narcissism? Everyone wants to be a Kardashian?
Selfies? Me Me ME? The importance of $ and bling above all? It’s sad but there really are some deeper issues that the new generation of teens are facing and it seems that parents are missing the mark on what they talk to them about.

    • Yes, let’s ruin their entire lives, make it so they can’t function in society, all because of a mistake they made when they were 15.

    • There’s a place called Juvenile Hall, put them there.

  16. If their underage, the photos shouldn’t be making it to the Internet, period. The responsible individual (s) should be charged for electronically distributing Child Porn. Law or not, its just common sense. The discussion starts at home. And if they choose to ignore Mom and Dad, then they will get a wake up call.

As disturbing as it is, with todays technology, we as parents need to be more involved and do our best to guide our kids. If we don’t make that effort, their pictures or words will be part of the Worldwide Web forever.

  26. This is sick and scarey!

  27. You buy these tools and then are shocked what your kids do with them. Parenting is becoming a lost art everywhere. These phones and pads are used as cheap child care. Rethink investing time rather than techy toys in your children future or don’t whine.

  28. M. OAKLEY says:

This is a sad situation that can happen to good parents of kids making poor decisions. The effects of this could last a lifetime for someone whose photo was posted. It’s very likely that if a minor is charged in this matter they may have to attend a 52 week sexual offender counseling program; or be ordered to attend sexual boundary counseling. Juvenile court proceedings are different that adult matters in most cases, and most of the time the court tries to start at the least restrictive course of action. However, a message needs to be made that this is not going to be tolerated and that if you have a vendetta against someone, DO NOT create a new problem for yourself by posting inappropriate things online.

  32. All the more reason my kids don’t even have those apps! Yep, I watch mine and their activity like a hawk. Sadly many others don’t and this is what happens.

  33. SCV worry more about kids dying from heroin overdose. Big deal naked pictures, Americans are so uptight about nudity

  34. “An idle mind is the devils playground!” Too many attention seeking kids. Parents have to insist on self respect & common decency. Hope this serves as a great lesson to young people, that creeps are lurking & will expose their nude photos! Hey kids unless you want to be porn stars and get paid for being naked on camera, stop posting naked photos of yourselves. Seriously, what a load of dummies!!!

  35. Once the names of the kids are found out… Please some one go tell their parents that it’s time to get those kids flip phones. Evident sky their camera on their phone puts them in danger of creeps & pedophiled!
