Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station deputies nabbed a napping convicted felon from Wasco in Castaic Monday night and arrested him on felony and misdemeanor weapons and drug charges, according to officials.
Here’s the story from the station’s social media:
“A convicted felon was found sleeping in a car at a Castaic gas station, with a loaded firearm and illegal drugs.
“On Monday, Dec. 10, around 9:30 p.m., deputies responded to the 31700 block of The Old Road, Castaic regarding an individual who reportedly appeared to be unconscious in a car.
“After a deputy knocked on the driver side window but received no response, he opened the unlocked door and saw a handgun in plain view. The deputy recovered the firearm, which was determined to be loaded.
“Deputies attempted to stir the driver again and this time the man woke up. Upon contact and additional investigation, deputies learned the driver was a convicted felon, and also in possession of cocaine.
“Deputies arrested Armando Valdez Jr., 28, of Wasco on three felonies and two misdemeanor charges for weapons and narcotics.
“Valdez was transported and booked at Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station jail, with bail set at $87,000.”
