The Los Angeles Dodgers jumped to a 3-0 lead in the best of seven series following Tuesday night’s 6-1 victory over the Chicago Cubs in Game 3 of the NLCS at Wrigley Field.
With the victory, the club won their sixth consecutive game this postseason, which is a new franchise record, and became just the sixth team in Major League history to start a postseason 6-0 or better, joining the 2014 Royals (8-0), 2007 Rockies (7-0), 1976 Reds (7-0), 2016 Indians (6-0) and the 1970 Orioles (6-0). The Dodger look to close out the series tonight, as they can become the first team in franchise history to record back-to-back sweeps in the Postseason. It would also be the club’s first seven-game series sweep in 54 years, when the Dodgers swept the Yankees in the 1963 World Series.
On the mound: Dodgers LHP Alex Wood (16-3, 2.72 – Reg. Season) vs. Cubs RHP Jake Arrieta (0-1, 0.00).
Game time is 5:01 p.m. PT.
The Dodgers are playing in the NLCS for the fifth time in the last 10 seasons.
The Dodgers won the season series with the Cubs, 4-2, losing two of three at Wrigley Field during the season’s opening week and sweeping the Cubs at Dodger Stadium in late May.
This series is the third all-time postseason meeting between the Cubs and Dodgers, following the 2008 NLDS (L.A. swept, 3-0) and last year’s NLCS (Cubs won, 4-2).
With a win tonight, the Dodgers will clinch their 22nd National League pennant, which would rank second-most in the NL, trailing only the Giants’ 23.
