The LA SummerFEST, the eclectic summer cultural series, is now in it third year. To celebrate, the festival is expanding to create more of a festival atmosphere around some of the bigger events. New additions to the festival include a vendor fair for four of the larger events, advertising available for the LA SummerFEST program, and two New Events: The Latin Music & Cultural Festival, and a REN-FEST.
“Each year we try to add something new to the festival”, says David Stears, the producer to the festival, and executive director of the Santa Clarita Shakespeare Festival. “We want to offer more for the families that come out for the performances.”
Below is a description of some of the new additions to the festival:
The SummerFEST Village, a vendor fair of crafts, artisans, food and workshops. The SummerFEST village will be set up on four of the days during the summer: for the Latin Music and Cultural Festival (July 11th); the Americana FOLKFest (July 12th); The REN-FEST (July 18th); and the BluesFEST (August 1st). Also new to the festival this year is new program format, including on online festival program. Local businesses can support the festival and advertise the business, reaching thousands of patrons over the summer.
For the opening of the opening of the Shakespeare in the Park series, there will be a one-day mini REN-FEST with food, performances, and demonstrations for the entire family. New to the festival is a Latin Music & Cultural Festival, celebrating food, arts, crafts and perforamnces throughout the day, including: Folklorico dancing, a new theatre production from CREZCA Teatro, Dance Lessons, and the East LA Band Buyepongo.
