Santa Clarita Transit, along with staff from transportation consulting firm Moore & Associates, Inc., will host its second round of community workshops in support of the City’s Transportation Development Plan (TDP).
Workshops will be held from Feb. 7-9, at various locations throughout the City.
While the TDP serves as a blueprint for Santa Clarita Transit services over the next five to ten years, it is also designed to help staff in developing route changes, timing of new bus purchases, and planning for future capital improvements.
The City, along with neighboring unincorporated communities, has seen significant changes since the last TDP was drafted in 2011. Transportation services and technology including Uber, Lyft, and bike share programs have evolved; therefore, revisiting the TDP with fresh eyes is key to ensuring Santa Clarita Transit provides the best possible service to residents.
The initial round of community outreach engaged existing transit riders as well as non-riders, resulting in the collection of over 4,000 survey responses. This upcoming series of interactive meetings is designed to present residents recommendations based on survey findings and solicit feedback. A sampling of these recommendations includes:
– Divide the commuter bus service into two legs – west side and east side.
– Provide fixed-route service to the new Senior Center at Five Knolls.
– Provide limited-stop service on Soledad Canyon Road.
