[KHTS] – In high school baseball, the Foothill League went 0-for-2 in the wild-card round of the CIF Southern Section Division 1 playoffs.
The West Ranch baseball team lost, 5-0, against Chaminade. The Wildcats got only two hits in the game.
The Saugus baseball team lost to Alemany, 5-4. The Centurions led 3-0 in the first inning, but Alemany scored four runs in the fifth inning to take a 5-3 lead.
The Albert Einstein Academy baseball team won its wild-card games, 25-3, over Coastal Christian in the Southern Section Division 7 playoffs.
The Einstein team plays Nuview Bridge, the No. 2 seed in the playoffs, on Friday.
In college basketball, The Master’s College added some Big 10 bulk for the upcoming season.
Russell Byrd will transfer from Michigan State to The Master’s College for his senior season. Both his parents are graduates of The Master’s College.
Kelly Byrd, Russell’s dad, played on The Master’s College basketball team from 1983 to 1986 and holds the second best career field goal percentage at the school at 58.7 percent.
