The Angeles National Forest (ANF) is requesting public comment on a draft Management Plan for the long-term development and operations of the Rowher Flat/ Drinkwater Flat Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV) Area, located north of Santa Clarita.

Public comments are also requested on a draft Proposed Action for improvements within the Drinkwater Flat segment of the OHV Area, for future environmental review as required by the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA).

Comments must be received by September 1, 2019, in order to be considered and incorporated into the final Management Plan and Proposed Action.

The draft Management Plan and Proposed Action are available online at the ANF website: https://www.fs.usda.gov/angeles/.

Public comments may also be submitted at public meetings to be held on August 22 at Angeles National Forest Headquarters (701 N. Santa Anita Ave., Arcadia, CA 91006) between 6 p.m. – 8 p.m., and on August 24 at Rowher Flat Staging Area 1 between 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 noon. Forest Service managers and specialists will be available at both meetings to answer questions.

Directions to Rowher Flat Staging Area 1:

From California State Route 14 (North): take the Sierra HWY exit (Canyon Country); turn right onto Sierra HWY (continue for 7.5 miles); turn left on Rush Canyon Road and continue 2.8 miles.

From California State Route 14 (South): take exit Via Princessa; turn right at Via Princessa; turn right onto Sierra HWY (continue for 7.5 miles); turn left on Rush Canyon Road and continue 2.8 miles.

The Management Plan and Proposed Action will serve as a framework for enhancing the Forest’s OHV recreation opportunities, protecting natural and cultural resources, and providing a satisfying and sustainable recreational experience for OHV enthusiasts. The Management Plan and Proposed Action are scheduled to be completed by September 30, 2019.
