For the second year in a row, GVTV, Golden Valley High School’s advanced video production class, has been chosen as one of seven high school programs across the country to participate in the Student Television Network National Documentary Project.
This year’s topic: Overcoming a disability to achieve greatness.
The video production class will focus on a 7-year-old boy with Metatropic Dysplasia (a skeletal disorder) and how he does not let his condition stand in the way of enjoying all life has to offer. The boy is the son of a Golden Valley teacher.
The students chosen for the project are: Ryan Lopez, Yael Gutierrez, Jordan Nunn, Jimmy Warshawsky, Sammy Sharaf and Griffin Davis.
“It is an honor for our video production team to be recognized on a national level for our work two years in a row,” said Charles Deuschle, Golden Valley’s video production teacher. “The opportunity for our students to work with a producer and six other schools in a collaborative capacity to reach one common artistic goal is a real-world learning experience that will carry them through their post-secondary education or into the work force.”
GVTV’s portion of the documentary will premiere at the STN Convention in Anaheim this March.
