The William S. Hart Union High School District has a program in place to support every student’s life plan. It’s called Pathway to My Future, and whether you are a college-bound student or ready to join the work force upon high school graduation, every single one of us is career bound in some way, shape or form.
A website dedicated to the program (pathwaytomyfuture.org) provides excellent information on the different careers a student may consider, plus resources for businesses and teachers as well. For those social media likers and followers, Pathway to My Future can be found on Facebook (www.facebook.com/HartDistrictPathwayToMyFuture) and on Twitter (@pathway2future).
“Pathway to My Future is a resource for all Hart District students, parents, teachers, industry, and community members to use to engage with college and career preparation opportunities available within the district and to inform themselves on career and college readiness,” said Dr. Mariane Doyle, Director of Career Pathways.
A clear goal in education is to prepare students for the reality of the work force. In addition to parents and students, business partners and volunteers are encouraged to go to the website to find out not only how they can get involved in shaping the future, but also how they may find their immediate needs met as well. The website features job postings and available internships.
“Education needs the leadership of business and industry in order to best prepare students for what is expected of them as participants in the 21st century workforce,” Doyle said. “Contributing as advisory members, volunteers, guest speakers, internship hosts, etc. provides not only the needed support to Hart District students, but also has a reciprocal effect on our partners. It is amazing to see how much they enjoy giving of their time and sharing their passion for their career field with students!”
The best way to make tough decisions is to be informed, and Pathway to My Future is designed to help students, parents and business leaders navigate through many of the great resources available.
