[KHTS] – The Hart District School Board laid out plans for its electoral future Wednesday, approving a map that splits the district into five voting areas.
Starting in November, board members will be elected only from among the voters in his or her area instead of all voters throughout the valley, as has been the practice since the district was established in the 1940s.
District officials decided on their third choice, which puts each incumbent in a different district. All three maps did that.
The Williams S. Hart Union High School District oversees more than 22,000 public junior high and high school students.
The district decided to move to trustee areas last year in response to concerns about the possible vulnerability to a lawsuit.
