William S. Hart Union High School District Governing Board President Robert P. Hall will be stepping down from his position on the board as he will be leaving the country to take on a new responsibility within his company.

Hall, who is currently the Director of Human Resources with Advanced Bionics in Valencia, has accepted the opportunity to become the Director of Human Resources, Asia Pacific, which is based in Singapore for the global company. He will have responsibility over offices in Tokyo, Seoul, Beijing, Delhi, Sydney, Auckland and Singapore.

“Leaving the Board is the hardest part of this decision,” Hall said. “I am sad that I have not been able to complete what I wanted to accomplish.”

“Rob has been an outstanding board member who has always looked out for the District’s best interest,” said Vicki Engbrecht, Superintendent of the Hart School District. “He carefully considers and evaluates the information given to him and makes well-reasoned decisions that have always been to the benefit of the District’s students. It’s been a pleasure working with him and we’ll all miss him.”

Hall’s assignment in Singapore, which officially started September 1, will be for 19 months. He will be working from the Valencia office until January when he plans to relocate. When the assignment ends on March 31, 2018, he plans to return to the United States to take another position.

“Our intent is to return to Santa Clarita where my wife Laura and I have lived and raised our children since 1986,” Hall said. “I am proud to have served the students of Santa Clarita the last three years.”

According to Education Code Section 5091 (a), the Hart School District Governing Board has 60 days from the date of the vacancy or the filing of the member’s deferred resignation to either order an election or make a provisional appointment.

In order to serve on the Board, a person must meet the eligibility requirements specified in Education Code 35107:

“Any person, regardless of sex, who is 18 years of age or older, a citizen of the state, a resident of the school district, a registered voter, and who is not disqualified by the Constitution or laws of the state from holding a civil office, is eligible to be elected or appointed a member of a governing board of a school district without further qualifications.”
