U.S. Rep. Katie Hill, D-Agua Dulce.

U.S. Rep. Katie Hill (D-Agua Dulce) will carry on the 25th Congressional District’s traditional Congressional Art Competition, an annual nationwide competition for high schoolers sponsored by the members of the U.S. House of Representatives.

Hill is welcoming high school students to submit their artwork to be celebrated by the community, with one piece advancing forward to be prominently displayed in the U.S. Capitol.

“Our community is full of forward-thinking young artists who look at society with new eyes and new creativity. I am so proud to be able to support them by sharing their vision and showcasing their talents,” Hill said in a statement. “I look forward to seeing the incredible submissions and sharing our winner’s work with the country when it hangs in the halls of the Capitol.”

Since its creation in 1982, more than 650,000 high school students have been involved with the nationwide competition.

The first-place winner (and one parent/guardian) in each Congressional District is provided with complimentary airfare to Washington, D.C. to see his or her art displayed in the Capitol Building during an unveiling ceremony.

The competition is open to high school students that attend public or private schools, or are homeschooled. Students must reside in California’s 25th Congressional District to be eligible and have until noon on Monday, April 22 to submit their work.

The winners will be announced on April 24 on KHTS AM-1220 at a 3:30 p.m. live event hosted by FastFrame Valencia, located at 24204 Valencia Blvd. Hill will be in attendance.

All artwork must be submitted to a designated drop-off location. Each piece of artwork must be submitted with a student release form.

For release forms, drop-off locations and more information on eligibility, guidelines and rules, visit Hill’s website or contact Kelsey O’Hara at 661-802-0244 or kelsey.ohara@mail.house.gov.
