On Tuesday, March 22, over 100 Sulphur Springs Union School District students will be recognized for their academic achievement at our Annual ESTRELLA Awards.
These students in grades 3rd through 6th entered our district schools speaking an additional language and have been participating in the Sulphur Springs English Learner program with our trained teachers, in order to support their English Development and California grade level standards.
The students we will be celebrating are competing academically, on the same level with children who came to school speaking only English. We are proud of their hard work in achieving English proficiency and celebrate their success. Students will receive an academic achievement medal, an award, as well as a certificate from Jersey Mike’s Restaurant for a free kid’s meal as we acknowledge their success.
The celebrations will take place at two school sites: Canyon Springs Community School (19059 Vicci Street) and Valley View Community School (19414 West Sierra Estates Drive) in the schools’ multipurpose room at 7pm.
