Three children and one adult from Los Angeles were airlifted from the 14 freeway in Acton Thursday morning after a fatal solo-vehicle rollover crash.

The crash was reported around 6:20 a.m. Thursday morning, south of Ward Road, according to a California Highway Patrol report.

Karen Adams, 37, was driving a black Chevrolet Trailblazer northbound when the vehicle veered right and into a dirt embankment, according to the report. The vehicle rolled several times.

Four children were in the vehicle, two male 8-year-olds, a male 14-year-old and a female infant, according to the report. The infant was ejected from the vehicle and suffered fatal injuries.

The other three children and Adams suffered major injuries and were airlifted around 6:55 a.m. from the highway to Antelope Valley Hospital and Children’s Hospital Los Angeles.

CHP officers are investigating the use of drugs and or alcohol in the incident, according to the report.

  11. Ann says:

So sad. I hope her other children will recover. This was a morning for death. While some saw this accident while driving north on the 14, I saw the deceased man laying on the side of Sierra Highway (Newhall) while leaving Santa Clarita going south. (Appears to be a shooting, self-inflicted perhaps.) I was so surprised that they did not cover him up.

  12. Que tristesa como hay jente que pueda manejar tomada yevando sus hijos ….nosotros pasamos y miramos que serraron el friway

  13. Patty Miller says:

My Dad was driving to visit us in Henderson and delayed over an hour by this tragic accident. People need to slow down and be careful especially when children are in the car.

  14. Yikes, heard sirens this morning & I said a prayer as I normally do but too late. Oh sooo very tragic.

It appears the 8-yo boy has passed away as well now. (I’m reading the other 8-yo was a girl. They were twins.) So sad. :(

  19. Jeff Winner says:

What is up W/ the “thumbs up” emojis?! Just curious? Bec as far as I’m concerned that’s a resounding thumbs down??????

  20. An accident on this highway everyday. When are the people of the highway department going to finally fix the lanes so they don’t go from three lanes to two and back again no less than 5 times from Highway 5 to Highway 58?

  21. I have seen this a lot driving on the Fwy’ s kids walking around a mini van etc. Other reports are saying Alcohol or Drugs suspected.. No excuse. I won’t jump to conclusions until all the facts are in and 100% accurate. Either way this family has been torn apart and a child is gone and the other children are still in need of prayers.

  22. RBrown says:

Im so sorry for their loss, so sad. Lets not jump to conclusions. A fireman friend of mine, once told me that he has seen accidents where babies are restrained and still ejected, mostly because of car seats being improperly secured. I suggest everyone take their car seats to a local fire station and have them show you how to do it properly. You will be surprised how most of us are doing it incorrectly.

  23. My prayers sent to all involved, and to the first responders??,angels and they too have to face and see tragedies….thank you for being there for all! Strength and Prayers to all! Saddened!

  24. This happened right in front of me… yes people PLEASE SLOW down!

  25. Gonzalo Gomez alamejor por eso estaban Los bomberos en chi#$$ ahora
