Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Homicide Bureau detectives responded to North County Correctional Facility Sunday to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death of a man.
On March 20 at approximately 7:05 a.m. deputies were alerted by inmates that another inmate in their dorm was having a seizure.
Facility medical personnel were summoned to the inmate’s housing location by the deputies.
While the inmate was being transported to the facility infirmary he became unresponsive and the Los Angeles County Fire Department paramedics were called. Paramedics were unable to revive him and they pronounced him dead at the scene.
The cause of death will be determined at the completion of an autopsy that will be conducted by Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner personnel.
The identity of the inmate is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
There is no further information available at this time.
