After serving the Santa Clarita Valley for 16 years as a Board member for the Castaic Lake Water Agency and SCV Water, Jacque McMillan resigned effective Jan. 26.
McMillan represented Division 3 on both boards, serving portions of Los Angeles and Ventura Counties.
Moving forward, McMillan will focus her time and attention on her family.
“On behalf of the Board of Directors, we respect Jacque’s decision and appreciate everything she has contributed to this agency,” said Bill Cooper, SCV Water board president. “Her professionalism and expertise have always reflected well on SCV Water. We wish her all the best.”
McMillan’s background in the water industry has been an asset to providing valuable insights to the Agency’s Board of Directors in both legislative and water policy issues.
“Jacque has been an enthusiastic advocate in supporting the Agency’s mission,” said SCV Water General Manager Matt Stone. “For the past 16 years, she has passionately represented the customers of the Santa Clarita Valley.”
During her tenure, McMillan served as Chair, Vice Chair and member on many of the CLWA and SCV Water Committees. Most recently she served as Chair of the Public Outreach and Legislation Committee and was a member of the Water Resources and Watershed Committee.
Additionally, McMillan has served as a member of the Association of California Water Agencies’ Communications Committee, Membership Committee and Water Quality
Committee. She also served as a member of the California Special Districts Association’s Legislative Committee, Member Services Committee and Professional Development Committee, representing the interests of both Southern California Rate Payers and SCV Water.
“I have enjoyed my 16 years on the board and am especially pleased to have been a part of the efforts to consolidate the Valley’s water agencies under one umbrella,” McMillan said.
Mc Millan’s current term will expire January 2020. At the February 5 regular SCV Water Board meeting, the board will have the option to decide to appoint a new director or to eliminate the seat. Over the next four years (per SB 634, SCV Water’s enabling legislation), the Board is set to reduce in size from 14 to 9 members, each of them elected. The next elections are scheduled for November 2020 and November 2022 and will result in three elected officials representing each of the three new electoral districts.
“Having watched the yeomen efforts of staff this past year to reorganize the agency, revamp all of its policies, procedures, and reporting, I know I leave the agency in very talented and dedicated hands,” McMillan said.

Thank you Jacque, for whatever it is you have done for us to make things better.
Still, at least 99% of the people you “served” don’t have the slightest idea of what you have done for, or to them. Not your fault of course; but it certainly is somebody’s.
