SCVi Charter School is inviting the community to a special open house event in which parents and prospective students can tour the founding campus of iLEAD Schools and learn about its project-based, collaborative approach to learning.
“We’re excited to be able to show everyone what SCVi and iLEAD are all about,” said Amber Raskin, co-founder of SCVi and iLEAD Schools. “This is a great chance for parents and their children to find out if SCVi would be a good fit for their family and their learning styles.”
The open house is scheduled 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 28, at the SCVi campus at 28060 Hasley Canyon Road, Castaic, in the Hasley Canyon Commerce Center. In addition, early birds interested in information on home study options can visit the SCVi cafeteria starting at 4 p.m. Representatives will be available to discuss programs including iLEAD Exploration, iLEAD Innovation Studios and SCVi’s own home study program.
Most of the tuition-free charter school’s spaces will be open and guided tours will be offered. An SCVi college counselor and International Baccalaureate Program representative will be on hand to provide information and answer questions, and current SCVi families, representing various grade levels, will provide personal insight.
“We take a learner-centered approach to education that develops the whole child, academically, socially and emotionally,” Raskin said. “Our open house visitors will learn more about SCVi not only by visiting the campus, but also by talking to current SCVi learners and their parents to hear about the SCVi experience firsthand.”
Matt Watson, the upper school director at SCVi, said the open house presents parents an opportunity to learn about the educational options that a charter school provides.
“When I grew up, everyone attended the corner school. But we are now living in an age where parents have a great many options when it comes to their child’s education, and charter schools offer many unique opportunities to parents,” said Watson, who oversees grades 9-12 at SCVi. “The best way to make an informed decision is to visit. We look forward to the opportunity to speak with families and show them our program.”
RSVPs are not required but are appreciated. To RSVP, visit the SCVi Open House [event page on Facebook].
