A teen was arrested by Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station deputies and charged with assault with a deadly weapon and three more offenses in Newhall Monday night, according to station officials.
The 17-year-old boy allegedly pulled a gun on someone during an altercation, officials said.
In addition to assault with a deadly weapon, the teen was charged with receiving stolen property, negligent discharge of a firearm, and possession of a firearm with obliterated serial number.
He was booked at SCV Sheriff’s Station and then taken to Sylmar Juvenile Hall where he awaits a court appearance, according to station officials.
Monday’s incident is the latest of several being handled by the station’s COBRA team, which investigates burglaries, robberies and assaults, in addition to gang-related activities.
Dating back to early summer, there has been a string of similar incidents in the Newhall area. Several of the crimes are being investigated for their suspected gang involvement.
