More on the Porter Ranch Gas Leak

Last week I spoke at the Porter Ranch Neighborhood Council’s Community Forum about what we are doing to stop the leak and ensure that it never happens again. I also attended the Governor’s Town Hall to hear from residents about difficulties they are facing. If anyone has a question or needs assistance with relocation or reimbursement, please call my office at 661-255-5630 and we will make sure you are taken care of.

Coffee for Veterans

Yesterday I sat down for coffee with some of our area’s veterans at Crazy Otto’s. We discussed some of my current legislative efforts to improve the lives of service members and went over how my office can help on issues with federal agencies like the VA. For more information on that, visit my website here.

We Love Simi Police

A huge thank you to Mayor Bob Huber and the Simi Valley Police Department for providing my Simi Office with a “Simi Valley Supports Our Cops” sign. As a former officer myself, I have an immense amount of respect for the men and women in uniform of Simi Valley.

The Beat Goes On

On Monday I also took a tour of the Remo Drums manufacturing facility, which is located in Valencia. A huge thank you to Remo and the Santa Clarita Valley Chamber for helping set up the tour- the Remo facility is incredible and their story was inspiring!

Porter Ranch In DC
On January 12 I arranged a meeting between myself, Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy, and the President and CEO of SoCalGas to ensure that the Majority Leader is fully informed of the situation and behind me in preventing situations like the Aliso Canyon gas leak from occurring in the future.

Fighting for DIPG Awareness

A week ago I introduced a resolution that will help raise awareness and funding for a form of pediatric cancer called Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma, or DIPG. DIPG is responsible for the most pediatric brain tumor deaths each year, and this bill will bring us one step closer to ending it once and for all. Thank you very much to Jack’s Angels in Santa Clarita for bringing this issue to my attention, and to all of the original cosponsors, especially Congresswoman Jackie Speier, for helping bring this terrible disease to the national stage. More info on the bill here. For more information on Jack’s Angels and their efforts to combat pediatric cancer, visit their website here.

Making Nuclear Energy Work

Last week I participated in a markup for the House Committee on Science, Space, and Technology where we worked on the Nuclear Energy Innovation Capabilities Act. This legislation, which I am proud to cosponsor, would direct the Department of Energy to partner with innovators to develop the next generation of reliable, safe, and efficient nuclear reactors. Read the full bill for yourself here.
