MEDFORD, Ore. – Just 33 seconds into overtime, Katie Farris (Santa Clarita, CA) launched a perfectly placed golden goal from 20 yards out to give The Master’s College women’s soccer team a 2-1 victory over Southern Oregon University.
With the win, the Lady Mustangs’ overall record evens out at 1-1.
However, things didn’t start the way TMC had hoped, when Jacquie Galvez put the Raiders up 1-0 off a goal from 25 yards out two minutes into play. Despite outshooting the Raiders 7-2, the Lady Mustangs trailed Southern Oregon 1-0 at the half.
In the second half, the Lady Mustangs finally got on the board with 13 minutes left to play when Farris, who capitalized off an assist from Stephanie Albright (San Gabriel, CA), tapped the ball into the goal and knotting the game at 1-1.
After a brief break, the match was over almost as soon as overtime started when Farris notched the game-winning goal 33 seconds into play, sending the Lady Mustangs back to The Golden State with .500 overall record.
Farris paced the Lady Mustangs by posting four shots, two shots on goal, and two goals, while Natasha Coyle tallied five shots, and two shots on goal. As a team the Lady Mustangs outshot the Raiders 19-6.
Next up for TMC is a road match against Menlo College on Wednesday. First kick is slated for 11:30 AM.
