The Master’s University women’s volleyball team improved to 8-1 with its win over Arizona Christian University Saturday, Sept. 6 in The MacArthur Center.
TMU won in three straight sets (25-16, 25-21, 25-13) to open 2025 GSAC play.
The Lady Mustangs dominated the first set, expanding to leads of 14-7, 17-8 and eventually 22-10 off a block by Krista Brady and Isabella Amet. Brady and Kate Wagner would close out the set victory with another assisted block.
In the second set, ACU went on a 6-1 run from when the score was 3-3 to 9-4, prompting a timeout from TMU Head Coach McKenna Hafner. Following the timeout, TMU surged back in front with a 7-1 run of their own to lead 11-10, thanks to the efforts of Amet.
“I thought Bella demonstrated a lot of maturity and leadership in that set where we were feeling very shaky,” Hafner said. “She continued to pass the ball and defend efficiently.”
TMU would finish the second set the same way they finished the first: with a block by Kista Brady and Wagner.
“I liked that we executed in things that have been a priority in practice for us this week,” Hafner said. “Our ball control and our first touch was good and that was what we were looking for.”
The Lady Mustangs once again dominated the last set, raking in kills from Macy Gebhards, Kinsley Kollmann and Amet. Wagner had two service aces in the final frame to put ACU away for good. TMU hit .294 in the last set compared to just .026 for ACU.
Kollmann led the team with 11 kills and Amet added six kills and six digs.
TMU moved to 1-0 in GSAC play and 8-1 overall. The Lady Mustangs will host Occidental College on Sept. 12 at The MacArthur Center.
