LANCASTER – The Lancaster JetHawks scored six runs over their final three at-bats as they beat the Lake Elsinore Storm, 10-5, Thursday night at The Hangar.
The JetHawks swept the three-game series and now leads the Storm by two games in the standings.
Lancaster (20-15, 54-49) led, 4-3, through three innings. In the first inning, Casey Golden (pictured above) hit an RBI triple and Taylor Snyder added an RBI single. After Lake Elsinore (17-18, 52-51) tied the game with two runs in the second, the JetHawks scored twice more in the bottom of the inning.
Luke Morgan led off the frame with a solo home run, his first with Lancaster this year. Ryan Vilade added an RBI single off of Lake Elsinore’s Seth Blair (2-2) to put the JetHawks on top by two runs.
The Storm got a run back in the third inning, but that Ryan Rolison (4-6) held the visitors to three runs over six innings. He allowed 10 hits, but won for a second consecutive start. He retired the final five batters he faced, three via strikeout.
The JetHawks pulled away with six late runs. They scored three runs in the sixth inning, two in the seventh and one more in the eighth. The offense had ten hits with every starter getting in on the action. Six different JetHawks had an RBI, led by Morgan’s two.
The sweep was Lancaster’s third of the season, and they’ve won four games in a row. They lead the Storm by two games in the standings with 35 games left in the regular season.
The JetHawks travel to Visalia to face the top team in the North Division for a three-game series over the weekend.
