AMG & Associates, Inc., a Santa Clarita-based construction company, has been awarded an $11.1 million contract to expand the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Coroner Forensic Crime Lab. The project is set to begin this month, with completion in December 2015.
AMG will construct a 20,000 square-foot annex next to the existing facility, which will provide new space for the Controlled Substances, Forensic Alcohol, Firearms and Toolmarks, and the Crime Scene Investigation units. The project will also include a new parking lot, lighting, and an enclosed firing range.
AMG is uniquely suited for a project such as this. The company has expertise in all aspects of construction, from conceptual design, estimating, and job site management through occupancy and has earned designation as a LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Accredited Contractor.
“This project has been designed to achieve a LEED® Silver Certification,” said Albert Giacomazzi, President and CEO of AMG. “We’re proud of AMG’s ability to benefit our community and the environment through the important work we do.”

In 1957, the then mobile crime lab received its first case, and it was not until 1983 that the Sheriff’s Coroner Forensic Crime Lab moved to its current location. Now a staple of the San Bernardino community, the lab is home to a team of more than 100 employees performing forensic duties for thousands of cases each month.
“It’s very gratifying to be part of a state-of-the-art project like this, especially when it contributes to the important work of those who have protected the community and enhanced the lives of those they’ve served for so many years,” Giacomazzi says.
AMG was recently named to The 2014 Inc. 5000, an annual list of the fastest growing companies in the United States. With revenue of $22.2 million and a 76 percent three-year growth rate, AMG finds itself in the company of such corporate giants as Oracle, Microsoft, and Intuit, among many other notable Inc. alumni. It is the third time in four years that AMG has received this honor.
“We founded AMG in 2005 and are delighted by the company’s success,” Giacomazzi states. “We’re proud to be part of the Santa Clarita community. We believe our achievements benefit our local economy and help Santa Clarita thrive.”
