shakespearebestSummer 2015….  There is SO much happening!

There is a lot planned for this summer:

  • 12th Night – A Rock Musical
  • The Premiere of CREZCA
  • An Original Shakespeare piece
  • A new Faire begins
  • Earthday Clowns finish their tour!
  • Open Call for Vendors and advertisers

twelfthnightShakespeare’s comedy meets the Indie Rock Scene.  All Shakespeare’s text mixed with original Rock music.

It is a wonderful reimagining of this, Shakespeare’s most beloved comedies,” says David Stears, the company’s executive director.  “The Shakespearean  text lends itself to rock music so easily.  And it is great fun!”

The production is presented in coordination with Festival of New American Musicals.  Opening night is July 18th.  Only SIX performances… Don’t Miss It!

CREZCA TEATRO COMUNITARIO

We all understand the arts can bring a community together, but only if the arts are reaching the entire community.  Shakespeare wrote his plays to reach all members of society: from the groundings standing in front of the stage, to the wealthy and royalty.  Unfortunately, there are large segments in our community that the arts are not reaching.

CREZCA Teatro Comunitario (GROW Theatre in the Community) is our program to engage more of  our community.  Open to everyone, regardless of experience, the program is based out of the Newhall Community Center.

Over the last three months, Theatre artists/playwright Victor Vazquez, directors Sayda Trujillo and Juan Parada, and associate producer Carla Corona have met with the residents and developed a new play.  The production will and theatre group will make its debut at the Latin Music & Cultural Festival  this summer as part of the LA SummerFEST.

An ORIGINAL Shakespeare?

Well not quite … ONCE MORE UNTO THE BREACH, is an original compilation of Shakespeare’s text and writings on War, Honor, and Bravery.   The title is from a line of Henry the V, a call to arms to a weary fighting force to once again enter the field of battle.

The piece is compiled and edited by David Stears and Luck Hari, and is be directed by Luck Hari.  With two performances at the LA SummerFEST, Once More unto the Breach will also tour locally and throughout the North LA County area.

Do you know a high school student that wants to get invloved in theatre?  Join the Summer Apprentice Program – it is free for our local high school students.
