On his fondest memory as a Cougar…
My fondest memory would have to be when I went to the state meet because of how important it was to me. And, my family drove out to support me.
On setting a new personal best-mark at the state championship…
I was thrilled that I was able to peak at the right time. I ended up finishing fifth and was not supposed to even be in the top nine, so I was pretty excited.
On his plan for next year…
Right now I am talking to CSUN and that’s most likely where I will go, but there are other options. As of right now I am just weighing things out to see what the best choice is for me.
On his dream schools…
I have a couple dream schools – USC, Oregon, North Carolina, or Texas A&M. I am a huge USC fan and Oregon has the best track and field team nationally, but then I have always liked North Carolina and Texas A&M, because certain professional athletes went to those schools.
On his major…
This semester I am getting my AA in Liberal Arts and Social Sciences, but when I transfer to another college I want to major in Sports Psychology. I chose this major, because since I have been at COC I have taken a good amount of psychology classes. I have learned so much and have enjoyed every minute of them. My sister just graduated from UC Irvine with a bachelor’s in psychology so she also has had a big influence on me choosing psychology as a major.
On his career goal…
I want to become an athletic counselor.
On the other sports he plays…
I play any sport, but mainly basketball, football, and tennis.
On choosing track and field as his primary sport…
My favorite sport is basketball, but I’ve always been better at track and field. After high school I was not going to compete, until I saw my coach who said I would regret it five years down the road. So, I joined the team and competed these last two years.
On his favorite event to compete in…
My favorite events are the javelin and the long jump.
On his summer plans…
All my of friends are coming back from college so I plan to relax and plan a couple of trips.
On his hobbies…
Going to Disneyland, if that would be considered a hobby. I have a pass and go there all the time.
On what team will win the NBA championships…
I want the Indiana Pacers to win, but I think the Miami Heat will.
On his tattoos…
I have seven tattoos. One with my mother’s name and rose around it, my favorite verses of the bible and one for my father that says “like father” and my dad has one in the same spot saying, “like son”. There is another one of a cross that symbolizes my Christianity. I have my initials on the back of my arms and then I have two angels, one on each arm. They stand for having guardian angels by my side.
