UPDATE 4:25 p.m.: Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputies have apprehended one possible suspect and are detaining a second man in connection with the shooting Wednesday of a state parole agent in Lake View Terrace.
A man who loosely fit a description provided by a 9-1-1 caller was apprehended just after 4 p.m. near his home on Christy Avenue, between Foothill Boulevard and the 210 Freeway.
Deputies were not certain the 9-1-1 caller correctly identified the shooter.
By 4:25 p.m., they had identified the location of a different suspect, a Hispanic man known as “Eddie” or “Eduardo” and detained him. They are now looking into the identity of yet another man named Eddie in the same vicinity.
The trouble in establishing the suspect’s identity relates to the fact that deputies think the parole agent returned fire – and so far, none of the suspects appears to have been shot.

EARLIER: A California State parole agent was shot and wounded Wednesday afternoon in Lake View Terrace.
Reports at the scene indicated the agent was conscious and talking when admitted to Holy Cross Hospital in Mission Hills.
The shooting occurred at about 1:30 p.m. when shots reportedly rang out from a house on Foothill Boulevard near the Lake View Terrace Equestrian Center.
A 9-1-1 caller alerted police to a possible suspect, who may have been wounded in return gunfire, who was hiding under a trailer in the 10600 block of Foothill Boulevard.

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputies – including deputies from the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station – and LAPD officers worked together to establish a containment zone around the suspect. Sheriff’s deputies worked the inner perimeter and LAPD officers worked the outer perimeter to keep the public out of the line of fire. A school was evacuated.
The suspect, on parole for burglary, was identified as a 43-year-old white male (DOB 9-16-1968) with long blond hair and a beard, wearing a purple shirt and black pants.
As of 3:45 p.m., Sheriff’s deputies had not yet established whether the parolee was the correct suspect. Another witness reported a different suspect described as a Hispanic male, 5-foot-10, age 26 to 27, known as “Eddie.”
No suspect had been apprehended as of 3:45 p.m.
The California Highway Patrol shut down a section of the 210 Freeway which runs parallel to Foothill Boulevard.
