The College of the Canyons opens the Southern California playoffs against Fullerton College on Saturday. Fullerton is in the No. 1 seed in the Southern California regional and the No. 2 team in the nation as ranked by jcgridiron.com.
COC won eight games in a row and finished with a 5-1 record in the National Division, Northern Conference. The Cougars lost their season finale against Allan Hancock College and it cost them in the playoff seeding.
In college soccer, The Master’s College women will play Cal State San Marcos in an NAIA national championship qualifier on Saturday.
The Master’s College, ranked No. 16 in the NAIA, earned at at-large berth in the NAIA Women’s Soccer Championships. The Lady Mustangs finished in fourth place in the Golden State Athletic Conference.
The game is at The Master’s College. Kickoff is at 1.
In college volleyball, The Master’s College women open the NAIA national championship tournament against Cal State San Marcos on Saturday.
The Lady Mustangs are ranked No. 16 in the NAIA and finished in fourth place in the Golden State Athletic Conference.
Cal State San Marcos is the champion of the Association of Independent Institutions.
The winner will advance to the NAIA National Championship in Sioux City, Iowa.
In college cross country, The Master’s College men and women’s teams will compete in the NAIA National Championship meet in Lawrence, Kan.
The Master’s College men are ranked No. 15 in the NAIA. The women’s team is ranked No. 7 in the NAIA.
In the NBA, the Clippers lost to the visiting Memphis Grizzlies, 106-102. The two teams will be back at it in Memphis on Wednesday night.
In the NHL, the Kings are home for a game against the Tampa Bay Lightning. The Kings are coming off a 1-0 shutout over the New York Rangers on Sunday.
