The third race in the College of the Canyons Cross Country Series is tonight.
Istevan De La Rosa won the second race in the series in 15 minutes, 37.9 seconds. Phillip Rocha was second followed by Alfredo Coronado in third.
Hannah Kellerman was the highest finishing woman in the second COC Cross Country Series race. She completed the course in 17 minutes, 53.2 seconds.
Race No.3 starts at 7 at College of the Canyons.
In beach volleyball, Valencia High’s Lindsey Knudsen and teammate Abril Bustamante from Redondo Union High, won the U17 USA High Performance championship in Hermosa Beach.
Knudsen and Bustamante went 9-0 in the tournament and beat Kaylie McHugh and Julia Lewkowicz, 2-0, in the championship match.
Delany Knudsen, a Valencia High graduate and Lindsey’s older sister, teamed with Skylar Caputo to reach the U19 championship match at the USA High Performance tournament.
They went 8-1 and lost to Sara Hughes and Kelly Claes, 2-0, in the championship match.
In track and field, West Ranch High graduate Nick Bultman took eighth place in the young man’s hammer throw at the USA National Junior Olympics with a throw of 191 feet, 11 ¼ inches.
Bultman is a freshman at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. His younger brother, Nathan Bultman, a junior at West Ranch, was fifth in the intermediate boys hammer throw at the National Junior Olympics.
In baseball, the Dodgers woke up in extra innings and beat the Toronto Blue Jays, 8-3. Mark Ellis and Yasiel Puig hit home runs in a five-run 10th inning that broke a 3-3 tie.
The Dodgers have won six games in a row, all on the road.
They return home to start a weekend series against the Cincinnati Reds tonight.
