Newhall: Zone 6
Public Safety and Crime Prevention Information for the week of 08/31/2015 to 09/06/2015
My name is Betsy Shackelford, and I will be taking Deputy Dan Dantice’s position as the new Newhall zone leader.
I’d like to take this moment to congratulate Deputy Dantice on his promotion to Sergeant. He has been an outstanding partner, teammate and will be greatly missed here at Santa Clarita Sheriff’s Station. Stepping in as your new Newhall area zone leader, I strive to continue to keep the residents who live and work in the Newhall area up to date on the latest crime trends, along with a general crime assessment overview numerous times throughout the month. I am always available whether it is by telephone, email, or via our station website. It is my goal to assist in reducing the crime rate in Newhall, and improving overall quality of life issues.
The following crimes are currently being investigated by Santa Clarita Sheriff’s Station detectives:
An assault with a deadly weapon occurred near the 23600 block of Meadowridge Dr., Newhall. The suspect, who was intoxicated, walked through the apartment complex and struck two tenants with a beer bottle. The suspect was arrested by responding deputies.

A grand theft occurred near Newhall Avenue / Sierra Hwy., Newhall. Suspect(s) unknown stole the victim’s tailgate while parked at the location.
Vehicle and residential burglaries continue to be a reoccurring issue. As a reminder, do not leave your vehicle or residence unlocked or leave valuables inside your vehicle. Close and lock windows and doors even if you are making a quick stop or leaving your residence for a brief period. Be aware of your surroundings, and if you see someone who looks out of place, contact the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station to report any suspicious persons or activities.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
