Tick Fire Incident Command has approved the repopulation of areas including Baker Canyon Road from Sierra Highway, north of Vasquez Canyon Road, to where it ends near 15142 Sierra Highway.
Areas still under evacuation are Tick Canyon Road from Abelia Road to Summit Knoll Road. These areas will continue to be evaluated to determine when repopulation is safe.
Nine structures have been destroyed and nine structures have been damaged.
Fire officials warn that there are many hazards that can exist when returning home after a wildfire including ash, damaged utilities, exposed and burnt out structures, hazardous materials (cleaning supplies, batteries and paint). Please use personal protective equipment when handling these items incuding breathing protection (N-95 rated respirators), protective clothing, gloves, boots, glasses.
Update October 26, 2019, 7:00 a.m. – As of Saturday morning at 7 a.m., the Tick Fire has grown to 4,615 acres and is now 25% contained.
Update October 25, 2019, 9:30 p.m. – At approximately 9:30 p.m., Caltrans officials began reopening the southbound SR-14 freeway from Escondido Canyon Road to the Santa Clarita Valley. The HOV, #1 and #2 lanes will be open. The #3 lane (right side) will remain closed until approximately late afternoon Saturday. Please allow for extra time driving through the area.
