The Master’s College senior communications major Abigail Beck is going to New Zealand, courtesy of Denny’s … and courtesy of the short film she produced.

Her video, titled Bilbo’s Adventure was selected as the winner of the Denny’s “Search for Middle Earth’s Greatest Fan” contest. The contest challenged fans of J.R.R. Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings trilogy to produce a one-minute video that expresses why they should be voted Middle Earth’s greatest fan.

Beck’s video depicts a brief journey taken by Lord of the Rings characters Bilbo and Gandalf. The company’s destination is revealed at the end of the video.

As the grand prize winner, Beck, whose video was chosen by Academy Award-winning Lord of the Rings director Peter Jackson, will receive a trip for two to attend the world premiere screening of The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug.

According to an announcement posted on Denny’s Website, Beck’s prize package will be:

  • Airfare for her and a guest
  • 2-night/3-day trip for her and a guest
  • Hotel accommodations
  • $500 spending money
  • Airport and ground transportation for her and a guest
  • Two tickets to the highly anticipated world premiere screening of The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug
