[KHTS] – In high school track and field, Nathan Bultman from West Ranch High won a CIF Southern Section Division 1 championship in the shot put at Cerritos College.
He won with a throw of 60 feet, 11 ¼ inches.
Bultman was one of seven athletes the Foothill League to qualify for the Southern Section Masters Meet on Friday.
In high school baseball, Valencia is the lone team standing from the Foothill League in the CIF Southern Section Division 1 playoffs.
The Vikings beat Thousand Oaks, 11-2, in the first round. They will play JSerra Catholic in the second round today.
The Hart baseball team, champion of the Foothill League, lost to Orange Lutheran, 7-2, in the first round.
The Santa Clarita Christian baseball team advanced to the second round of the Southern Section Division 7 playoffs. The Cardinals beat Cuyama Valley, 16-2, in the first round.
They will play Riverside Christian in the second round today.
In auto racing, Canyon High graduate Greg Pursley won the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West race at Kern County Raceway Park in Bakersfield.
It was his first win of the season. Pursley won the inaugural West Series race at Kern County Raceway Park last year.
In the Indianapolis 500, Jack Hawksworth, driving for Bryan Herta Autosport, finished in 20th place. Hawksworth was making his first Indy 500 start for the team owned by Valencia’s Bryan Herta.
Ryan Hunter-Reay won the race, the first Indy 500 victory of his career.
