“The Big Bang Theory” never had it so good. The top-rated CBS sitcom topped the charts and shattered its own series record Thursday in an episode that appeared to be shot at Vasquez Rocks in Agua Dulce (but was actually shot on Stage 5 at Warner Bros. in Burbank).

After a three-week hiatus, “The Big Bang Theory” returned to sweep its 8 p.m. time slot with 19.78 million viewers. It finished first in households (11.8/19), viewers, adults 25-54 (8.1/21), adults 18-49 (6.3/19) and adults 18-34 (4.3/15).

The show is in the rarefied territory of “Friends,” which approached 20 million viewers in its final season.

Thursday night featured the cast (four nerdy scientists) in “Star Trek: The Next Generation” uniforms at Vasquez Rocks – a favorite filming location for the original 1960s sci-fi series and its television and film follow-ons.

In the episode, titled “The Bakersfield Expedition,” the cast decides to go to the Bakersfield Comic-Con but stops for some photos at Vasquez Rocks along the way. While there, they get their car stolen and have to hoof it back to civilization.

Big Bang Theory has to be one of the best if not the best
primetime shows right now. I can’t get enough of this show and I’m glad my
coworker at DISH got me hooked. With each passing episode it gets better and it’s
hard to wait for the next episode to come out. I enjoy watching other great
shows on primetime too that I’ve recorded. The problem for me was I always have
more shows I wanted to watch and my family gets upset I use all the TVs. I
don’t have to worry about picking and choosing, since I made the change to the
DISH Hopper DVR. I can enable the PrimeTime Anytime feature, and all four major
networks will record on one TV without any timer conflicts. This has never made
life easier and it’s helped simplify my life. I don’t know what I would do
without this awesome DVR.

I like the story but please get it right. This sequence was clearly not shot AT Vasquez Rocks. It was shot in a studio with a backdrop of Vasquez Rocks.
