Coroner’s officials have identified the woman killed in a solo-vehicle crash Friday afternoon in Canyon Country.
Theresa Wilkes, 46, was killed when her minivan crashed into a power pole, throwing personal belongings across the road, according to the Los Angeles County Department of Coroner.
“She was a very devoted mom of three. She was so friendly and welcoming, she had the biggest smile, she would always wave and say hi,” said Wilkes’ neighbor, Christy Vulich. “The kids were always out in the neighborhood playing.”
Wilkes, who once worked for the city of Santa Clarita as a part-time administrative assistant, leaves behind three teenagers.
The crash was reported at Sierra Highway near Scherzinger Lane at 3:10 p.m. Friday, according to officials with the Los Angeles County Fire Department’s Public Information Office.
Wilkes was confirmed dead at the scene, said Detective Dan Finn with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.
The Stevens family, who set up a GoFundMe page, posted this statement on the page:
“On Friday, October 16th, beautiful Theresa Wilkes was in a fatal car accident while on her way to work. She was taken from this world too soon leaving behind her three beautiful children, too young to be without their mama. She was a wonderful mother, sister, aunt, daughter, and friend to anyone that was lucky enough to be in her life. Because she was a single-mother, this page has been set up to support Theresa’s children with funeral costs, in hopes they can celebrate her as beautifully as the person she was. We are deeply saddened by her tragic passing and our lives are forever changed. Please keep Theresa’s children in your thoughts and prayers during this very difficult time. Forever in our hearts. Thank you all for your support.”
