The Master’s University volleyball team made quick work of Arizona Christian University by beating the Firestorm in three sets (25-19, 25-13, 25-13) Saturday afternoon on Bross Court.
Saturday’s victory improved the Lady Mustangs’ 2016 record to 10-5 and 3-1 in Golden State Athletic Conference play.
Aubrey Pyburn (Sun Valley, CA) paced TMU with seven kills. Notably, teammate Rebecca Davis (Kingsburg, CA) was close behind by posting six kills. Kayla Sims (Anchorage, AK) dished out 24 assists, while McKenna Hafner (Yucaipa, CA) earned 10 digs.
Collectively, TMU claimed 45 digs, 29 kills, 27 assists, and a .343 attack percentage.
Assessing Saturday’s match, TMU head coach Allan Vince said, “I was very pleased to see how our ladies responded to the first set of the match. Arizona Christian played very strong volleyball. They had precision in their passing, well-placed tips, and aggressive serving. Our girls adapted very quickly, and were able to take control of the match early on. I was very proud to see that we were able to take the lead early and sustain it throughout the rest of the match. These last two matches were good preparation for Biola on Tuesday.”
Now, the Lady Mustangs face the daunting task of taking on No. 15 Biola University (13-5, 4-0). First serve is set for 7:00 p.m. on Bross Court.
