The Castaic Lake Water Agency announced the launch Thursday of a new online financial reporting application powered by OpenGov that provides easy access to the Agency’s finances. The powerful, user-friendly platform transforms complex financial data into an interactive, digital format that makes it easier to explore how the Agency’s funds are collected and spent.
Users may access this new tool at www.clwa.opengov.com.
While CLWA has always maintained financial transparency via the many financial document files published on its website, the OpenGov platform simply takes that transparency to a new level by displaying colorful, clickable graphs and charts, allowing for a more visual user experience.
CLWA Controller Carlos Corrales led the initiative to make the Agency’s finances more transparent and understandable.
“We are pleased to offer this application to our users to better access our financial data, as it allows the Agency to stay current with instantaneous-trending technology, similar to that of social media,” said CLWA General Manager Dan Masnada. “With the appealing, interactive graphic displays of the Agency’s historical financial information, we may be better able to reach a new demographic market from the way this information is displayed, which can only help to further educate and empower our residents of the Santa Clarita Valley.”
Currently, CLWA’s financial information is available at the OpenGov link from the current Fiscal Year (FY) 2015/16, back to FY 2010/11.
