Saugus, Zone 4 Update

Crime in the Saugus area is down approximately 10 crimes this year, as compared to this time period last year. This week we had two reported residential burglaries. The first occurred in the 28800 block of Oaklar Drive on Friday, 01/11/2013. Person(s) unknown entered the victim’s garage and stole miscellaneous vehicle parts. The second burglary occurred in the 22900 block of Oak Ridge Drive on Saturday night, 01/26/2013, into Sunday morning, 01/27/2013. Person(s) unknown entered the parking structure and stole bikes which belonged to the victim. Detectives are actively working both cases.

There was a grand theft in the 21800 block of Maged Court on Wednesday, 01/16/2013. The victim had miscellaneous pieces of jewelry taken from her residence. The victim believes the person who stole her jewelry was possibly an acquaintance who she had over at the house.

There were three different incidents over the past few months where batteries have been taken out of the Time Warner cable boxes which are located off the side of the road in most residential areas. If you see anyone tampering with these boxes please contact the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station immediately at 661-255-1121.

There was an outstanding arrest made of a commercial burglar over the past week. The suspect was seen by store employees taking multiple items off the shelf and concealing them in his cart. He then exited the store and drove off with the stolen merchandise. The witness was only able to get a partial license plate number of the suspect’s vehicle. The Deputy was able to identify the suspect and later located his vehicle at his residence. The Deputy contacted the suspect and subsequently arrested him for commercial burglary.
