The West Ranch High School Academic Decathlon team won five individual gold medals and earned a top 10 finish in the Los Angeles County Regional Competitions, making the team qualified to compete at the state level.
Out of the team of nine students, Shane Cho and Camden Yi won Gold in the interview competition, Sabrina An and Edward Kim won Silver medals and David Noble and Abanoub Mikhail won Bronze.
For speech: Sabrina An, Shane Cho and David Noble won Gold medals, Camden Yi won a Silver medal and Jean Mok and Edward Kim won Bronze. Edward Kim won Bronze for essay.
Shane Cho was the overall highest scoring decathlete for the team.
The all-inclusive competition had students with GPAs ranging from 0.1 to 4.0 compete in 10 subjects. Three different competitions based on GPA were performed: the Honors category has a GPA range from 3.76-4.0; Scholastic GPA ranges from 3.0-3.75; and Varsity ranges from 0.1 to 2.99.

Varsity members: Edward Kim, Hyun Lee, Rushil Desai
The LA County competition is considered one of the most difficult in the nation. State competitions are from March 17 to March 20.
